SPF and DMARC Records - FAQ
WorkWave products allow for streamlined email communication, including invoices, inspection reports, and statements.
If you want to send emails using WorkWave, you must first set up both a DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) policy and an SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record for your domain.
Why do I need both SPF and DMARC records added to my domain?
SPF records and DMARC policies help email servers distinguish legitimate emails from fake ones. This prevents third parties from sending emails that appear to have originated from your organization, thus minimizing cyber threats such as email spoofing, phishing, and CEO fraud. By implementing SPF records and DMARC policies, you inform any receiving email address that WorkWave’s email servers are authorized to send emails on behalf of your organization’s domain.
What happens if I don’t have these records in place?
Many email service providers are now mandating a DMARC policy and proper SPF records to safeguard their customers. If your company lacks SPF records and a DMARC policy, the emails you send to your customers may not reach their inboxes, or end up in their spam folders.
Can WorkWave set up my SPF and DMARC records?
WorkWave is not authorized to set up SPF records or edit your DMARC policy on your DNS. A company’s DNS administrator can set up records for your company’s domain.
